AMERIQUE:

A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR: It is the unspoken statistic, but it is as real as anything to do with the lingering U.S. war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. According to the military, 1,800 American servicemen have killed themselves since the initial invasion of Baghdad. That is in addition to the more than 4,000 who died in battle. This week, families of the soldiers who committed suicide asked President Barack Obama to change the government policy of not forwarding letters of appreciation to mothers and fathers of these servicemen. By week's end, the White House had reversed the policy and agreed that such letters are needed, as well... - Eduardo Paz-Martinez, Editor of The Tribune

Death Of A World Villain: U.S. Forces Find & Execute Osama Bin Laden...Shot In The Head...Saudi Buried At Sea...

By EDUARDO PAZ-MARTINEZ
Editor-In-Chief

AUSTIN, Texas - It came almost a decade after he boldly masterminded the airliner attack that downed the iconic World Trade Center's twin towers in New York on Sept. 11, 2001. Late yesterday afternoon, Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden died from a gunshot to the head after a U.S. Navy Seals team stormed his mountain compound in northern Pakistan and briefly engaged his security forces before felling the world's Number One terrorist.

The 54-year-old Bin Laden and his guards are said to have put up a short fight before being overwhelmed. Reports say the compound was inhabited by a small Bin Laden security force and some women and children. U.S. officials said one woman in the compound was killed when she tried to shield an Al-Qaeda security member.

No U.S. casualties were reported, although raid leaders said a malfunctioning helicopter ferrying the seals went down. Its occupants, however, were all rescued.

President Barack Obama went on television last night to relay the news to the American people. New Yorkers were seen celebrating in the streets, as did residents of Washington, D.C.

Few other details have surfaced about the operation, although it has been confirmed that the Central Intelligence Agency had obtained information about Bin Laden's travels and whereabouts as early as 2004. And it seems much of that info came from a detainee, or detainees, being held at Guantanamo. Investigators there were said to have been given the nickname of a trusted courier used  by Bin Laden. The U.S. intelligence community then spent the next 6-plus years piecing the puzzle together. President Obama approved the raid on Saturday. Details of how the raid unfolded remain murky. But the Al-Qaeda courier, his brother and one of Bin Laden's sons were killed. Senior administration officials will only say that Bin Laden "resisted." And then the man behind the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil died from an American bullet to his head.

It was not known whether others in the million-dollar, ramshackle-like compound were taken prisoner.

The inside story is still unfolding.

Pakistan's role in the assault has not been explained, although a spokesman for that country said it had not participated. Nothing was heard from Saudi Arabia, Bin Laden's homeland.

Nothing has been said about the decision to bury the terrorist at sea. But a U.S. official said this to a British newspaper: "Finding a country willing to accept the remains of the world's most wanted terrorist would have been difficult. So the US decided to bury him at sea."

The story is fluid and details will come out little by little, as happens with most international news stories...

Agree that there is a huge differenve between The Trib and Chapa's dead blog. Tribune is a professional blog. Chapa is a wannabe.

I am very impressed with the work offered here by The Tribune. There are a number of national news sites and the Trib competes well with them. Tony chapa can only dream of reaching the Tribune's heights. Thank you, sir.

Commenting in on DPM & TBHT -

"The FAKER used to post a story and immediately post 20-30 comments. It doesn’t work like that. Comments are posted slowly through out the day. When I exposed him, he started posting them later in te day. It’s the same format.
The same number of comments daily.
Mainly attacking me istead of comments on the subject matter.
He is one sicko individual.

And earlier referring to DPM-

"Copy cat, copy cat, copy cat, copy cat. Piojo, piojo, piojo, piojo.Faker, faker, faker, faker.
Loser, loser, loser, loser."

This writing begs the question;why are you messing with this twit?
dude couldn't write a 1st grader book and you see how much he acts like one.

Like watching Mike Tyson hitting Fat Jesus; it becomes pathetic after a while, don't cha think?

ALL:...As most of you know, The Tribune supported Tony Chapa for many months last year. He even posted our stories on his blog. Then, he betrayed this Blog and Jerry Deal's after we'd agreed to put the clamps on cyber-bullies. Chapa is in it for himself, not news & not the community. MyHarlingenNews is a hate-filled, racist Blog. This past weekend, when his press release pipeline dried-up, he again attacked The Tribune. Just to get attention. He posts lines on his Blog accusing our Bloggers of not existing. He's been proven wrong many, many times. Bloggers go to sites they like at all hours of the day, and they post comments when they want to, not when I'd like them to. But Tony Chapa doesn't seem to have the smarts to understand that the reason his Bloggers left him is because of his hate. I wonder why anyone even goes there anymore. Surely, people such as Kenneth Benton and King Canute do not want to be associated with such a cheap, gutter site. But we'll see. I agonize over the image of unemployed Chapa sending his poor wife off to work every day and then flopping his ass down in front of his computer to spew hate all day long. 24/7/365, is how he puts it. There are stories to write, but not Tony; he sits and waits for the press releases to arrive. Some reporter. Very much like those found in his native Mexico... - Editor

Damned good response, mr. editor. Not eveyrone here knows the full story. Chapaneco has no value in Harlingen and I bet Kenneth Benton and Canute drop him like a hot potato. he's not doing this community any good!

I agree with ralph 1000 percent. Chapete isn't worth it. He's a flea. Why bother with his dwarf ass anyway? one of these days he's going to have to prove he is an American. Maybe that's why he doesn't drive.

Anonymous said...

The cops will get Chapa one of these days just like the USA got OSAMA. It's coming, chapaneco. You are a timebomb, dude. You'll explode once you know you suck and then kill your poor wife. I predict it. LOL!!!!

Benton has a desperate need for attention. He will post on almost any blog. He can not stop himself. I believe he has even posted on chickenbuckets, but use a pseudonym because he felt ashamed to post there, but needed to jump in and have a say anyway. He has extravagant schemes that he wants others to finance. The problem is, he has no track record. He has never put together a real deal on anything except paper, and he has no money of his own to put in. He has delusions of grandeur and suffers from a persecution complex. But then again, he may have come by it honest, the old saying goes – “You can choose your friends but you can’t choose your family.”

Antonio is a jealous freak, he can't take it, 6 comments today, 5 from him. One comment total, even Jerry's blog is out doing him. Campanpeco.

I agree. anyone blogging with Chapaneco is only burning himself. Kenneth Benton should watch out. King Canute appears to be getting it. Tony Chapa does not have enough sense to see that he has killed that dead blog. Nobody comments over there! see what the dwarf does then. LOL!!!
