AMERIQUE:

A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR: It is the unspoken statistic, but it is as real as anything to do with the lingering U.S. war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. According to the military, 1,800 American servicemen have killed themselves since the initial invasion of Baghdad. That is in addition to the more than 4,000 who died in battle. This week, families of the soldiers who committed suicide asked President Barack Obama to change the government policy of not forwarding letters of appreciation to mothers and fathers of these servicemen. By week's end, the White House had reversed the policy and agreed that such letters are needed, as well... - Eduardo Paz-Martinez, Editor of The Tribune

A Young Life Cut Short...Arturo Jose Iniguez's Promise Snuffed Out In God-Awful Matamoros, Mexico...Questions Abound...

By PATRICK ALCATRAZ
Editor

HARLINGEN, Texas - Stress, it is said, can force a strong-willed man to his knees. America's hurry-up society applies its pressures from all angles, family and job included. It is not rare to see seemingly smart people do the unthinkable, like commit suicide.

That, for now, is what some believe brought an end to 26-year-old Arturo Jose Iniguez's life this past weekend. But who knows? His strange death in Matamoros has a wagonload of unanswered questions - enough to float a hundred episodes of Law & Order. The young assistant district attorney working misdeamenor cases for Cameron County D.A. Armando Villalobos had much to live for, his parents, his wife and his very young daughter. Yet, he is dead.

And Villalobos, the employer who likely knows more about what happened than he has let on, is being coy about the stunning death. Initially, he issued a vague statement about the death, not noting anything specific, but indicating that Iniguez had met his end across the Rio Grande from Brownsville. Then came word from his grieving mother that he had died in a car accident; that only to be followed by Villalobos releasing additional info related to the finding of animal sedatives at the scene of Iniguez's last day on Earth.

Autopsies are forthcoming and it won't be until then that a cause of death will be established.

It strikes me that a grown man interested in killing himself would likely go after other narcotics that would do the job. Animal sedatives? That has to be as rare as someone wanting to use a weapon to kill themselves to reach for a machine gun. Plus, animal sedatives are for animals, presumably much stronger than those used by Human Beings.

We won't go silly speculating, but this has the feel of a murder, the sedatives being there only after someone planted them in the car and conveniently tossed the container just outside Iniguez's vehicle. But, then, that would feed another line of thought - that the young lawyer met foul play, something Villalobos says is not part of his thinking. So, you grab the pills from the animal sedative bottle and push them into your mouth and then toss the bottle outside? Nah, that's not believable. Villalobos says the container's lid was found inside the car, so why not the container? If Iniguez was after suicice, he'd want to do it in silence. A tossed container would have made noise and likely brought attention he'd not want.

"We are not aware of any stress factors outside of the common expected factors of being employed in a high volume work environment, married life, raising children, and starting a career with enormous school debt," the district attorney said in his press release.

That last part is odd. There are millions of Americans who paid for college with student loans. Not many of then are killing themselves. Plus, we're sure Iniguez was being well-paid and had a future that would have allowed him to seek - and get - bank loans to pay-off his debt. You just don't off yourself at age 26 over a few bills. Hell, that's a good age to be, an age when you've set sail a career and fully believe things will only get better with every year of experience you get under your belt.

So, no, we do not believe Iniguez killed himself.

A plethora of other possibilities do surface, including the unthinkable that could come from errant relationships, with loose women or hard men. It happens too often along the Texas-Mexico border, to bad and good people. We only hope that D.A. Villalobos is faithful to the truth.

The press is not his concern, and shouldn't be, but the young lawyer's surviving family needs facts, not the obscene posturing of an aspiring politician...

Exellent story. I was thinking the same thing. if he was killed by zetas it would not look good for Mexico. Villalobos should get to he botom of this and not lie about it. Enough is enough!

damned good article. It was needed. Its what sets you apart from chapaneco's childish and racist blog. This blog and Jerry Deals's lead the way. Anybody who would trust Chapete with news is wasting his time. Chapa has zero credibility and is now a fly on the week-old bowl of guacamole. Beat it, chapete! You're in last place and sinking deeper every day. When you atack other blogs people leave you, dude.

If Chapa didn't have The Trib, he'd have nothing. It's just post after post about Alcatraz. No comments for the idiot. Pobre pendejo! Where is his old lady to monitor his computer time? he's begging Jake for a comment! LOL!!!

RALPH & OTHERS:...We are aware that Chapa's Blog has ceased to exist for many. There is no reason for us - or anyone - to go there anymore. Chapa offers nothing other than his whining and begging for comments. It is a pathetic sight, one only his mother could weep tears for, only a father could not want for a son. Chapa has become the town's pest, the local Saddam Hussein and Moammar Khadafy rolled into one stumpy man. There is no other way to see it; he has entered the Meaningless Zone. We suspect that the people he attacked, Luciano Rubio, Joe Rubio, Kori Marra, and a few others are laughing away. I can hear it all the way up here. I'm lovin' it, absolutely... - Editor

He is finished, Pinche biejo burrro, by the way, the San Antonio Express reported that a Mexican newspaper is saying, they found sedatives near the Assistant District Attorney's vehicle, sedatives used in Animals. In addition, there are comments he posted on facebook about life being a depression.
Our prayers are with his family, may he rest in peace.

And so the story goes, that at the Wesmer drive in Mercedes, loud sobbings were heard inside a 1941 Yellow Ford. Like any responsible person, two ladies went by the vehicle to see if there was something wrong, or if they could help.
Surprise, surprise, there in the old ford, two old gizzards, one was wearing a red dress, crying on the shoulder of a gizzard dressed in a german guard uniform, comforting the gizzard dress like a woman.
Because the sobbings were so loud, police were called.
The police report states that upon arrival, they could hear the short man dressed in a woman's dress hollering, I am finished, my blog is finished, the Tribune has nailed the coffin on my racist anti police blog, they are getting 20 to 40 comments daily, while, my sewer rag line gets 3 to 5 comment, I write 3 and you write 2, on 20 stories, even the friedchickenbuckets blog is out doing me.
The police report states, the fat guy dressed in a german guard uniform kept saying, Antonnette, we will bring the racist blog back, don't worry. But Jack, you know we can't write good stories, soy mohao, I live in a house full of dog poop, I can't drive, I was called out by a former police officer in public because of the old blue jeans and unshine shoes I wear. I will shine them for you Antonnette, Jack is here to serve, I will be your slave, but please don't shut the blog down, what will we do. I will write comments under different blggers names, if I don't get a whip and beat me like a real slave.
Because the drama queens were making such a specticle. The police released the two drag queens. And were told, next time they would be arrested for distubing the peace.

Mr. Editor, heard this story at el ranchito rest. this mornig.

ANON:...You have written a version of the Most Requested Story of the past week. We know it's satire, but wonder if other Bloggers here will now take a stab at writing their own tale about these characters. The WesMer, huh? Outdoor drive-in, if my memory serves, between Weslaco and Mercedes. You exhibit a certain talent, my friend. Thanks. We enjoyed it. Let's hope our friends at that other dying Blog see the humor of their weird ways... - Editor

Hey, I like the little story, so now we know the rest of the story, Jack and Antonnette, par de flores.

Mr. Editor, you are correct, that drive in is located near an old flea market. And it is between Mercedes and Weslaco, I think is one of the few is still around.
So Antonette and Jack and Jill, making out in an old Ford??? Sounds like high school kids. Sounds Kinky.

The District Attorney in Hidalgo must be crazy, a good justice of the peace is going away, and the hoodlums are coming back.

Anonymous said...

Well, crime wins again, the good reputation of a woman is gone, and the punks and hoodlums are slowly coming back, to bully, disturb classrooms, and miss school. Welcome to Hidalgo county, the poorest and most illeterate county in the state of Tex.

Some crazy people were already saying the suicide of the assit. District Attorney's was drug related. Oh boy, wait untill the coroners report.

"Crazy People," Anon, agree with your comments, lets wait and see if it is true what was reported today about drinking some type of poison.

Whatever the truth is, I'm sure his loved ones want peace in their lives right now. Everyone has an opinion but in the end whst matters is he is no longer here and his family who is is suffering. So why not have some respect for them and let the investigators do their job. As a close friend of his since childhood, I can strongly say he would want nothing more than to not cause any grief. So maybe reporters should stick to facts not speculations!
