AMERIQUE:

A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR: It is the unspoken statistic, but it is as real as anything to do with the lingering U.S. war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. According to the military, 1,800 American servicemen have killed themselves since the initial invasion of Baghdad. That is in addition to the more than 4,000 who died in battle. This week, families of the soldiers who committed suicide asked President Barack Obama to change the government policy of not forwarding letters of appreciation to mothers and fathers of these servicemen. By week's end, the White House had reversed the policy and agreed that such letters are needed, as well... - Eduardo Paz-Martinez, Editor of The Tribune

LA BLOGA NOSTRA: News, Views And A Mission For God...

By RON MEXICO
Herald Tribune Crime Writer

BROWNSVILLE, TX - A novel Blogging troika grew closer to fruition here last night, following a lengthy meeting at a noisy jukejoint during which editors of this site and ElRocinante.com and ElRrunRrun.com hashed-out a working agreement designed to avail this troubled bordertown a dependable, 24-hour news network.

"It's pretty much a done deal," said ElRrunRrun's Juan Montoya. "My only concern was territory, and I struck out for Southmost and Las Prietas as key for my site. Of course, politics is everybody's playground, so..."

As planned, ElRocinante.com would grab the arts and border culture and pornography.

This site will seed the taller trees of information, delivering unbiased, unabashed news for the community at large. Said Patrick Alcatraz, editor of The Brownsville Herald-Tribune: "We like our share of the pie, and we are okay with seeing those areas-of-interest sought by the other two go to those sites. We have no interest in, say, porno, or in any sort of bashing. Other than that, we're aboard the train."

The trio, accompanied by a solid phalanx of security at the 1-2-3 Lounge's Maria Felix Ballroom, used their three-hour meeting to coordinate other aspects of their effort. Sports will be the bailiwick of ElRocinante's editor, Dr. G.F. McHale-Scully,a dedicated follower of fashion and all-around sports fanatic.

All will work under a new corporate umbrella, to be registered with the State of Texas as Great Guns, Inc. ElRocinante's curvaceous P.R. staffer, Monique Molina, will serve as secretary for the trinity. A covey of residents will be selected to serve on the group's Editorial Board, with Montoya assigned the task of enlisting new Bishop Daniel Flores and McHale-Scully asked to persuade the head of the city's taxicab union. The board will be comprised of three men and three women, none with an axe to grind. Alcatraz has promised to bring one of his female friends to the board.

"We're done here," he said as the meeting closed and the well-hipped waitresses moved in with the booze...

Let me see, is that Melissa Zamora?? Wow, that look on her face is a Knock out, whats with the white dress, purity or just coincidence??? Come Patrick, you have the Answers, and what is the rumor, that dp-m spent time with her and a candidate at the 1-2-3 lounge. I thought dp-m was a flake, with good music taste of course. Clear up the rumor.

We all knew it was a matter of time before you put Melissa's photo up.

For the record: DP-M is no flake, although he has his Peter Pan moments with women. He is an accomplished Man on a variety of fronts, an excellent, benevolent ally to his friends and a wonderful conversationalist when he dines alone. As for the connection you make between him and City Commissioner Zamora, well, you're just the latest to venture forth imagery that simply is false...- Editor

Is that Mana singing, "Tengo muchas alas" well, well you are living up to your reputation. Good music, good looking women, good articles, no profanities, a good blog.
Who is the good looking dame dressed in white???

Litle by little, we are covering the potholes a few locals have placed on the DP-M Highway. He is a cultured Man easy to like. His detractors in town really do not know him, for if they did...they, too, would sing his praises. As for the "dame," well, we hope you mean well by using that word, 'cause we are big backers of Commissioner Zamora - a public servant we believe will eventually be judged as being a positive force in Brownsville...- Editor

Of course, of course, no pun intended to the Commish, I just think she looks pretty damn good to be a local politician. As for DP-M keep eating the chips, but becareful, those things can put the weight on you.

Commissioner Zamora is the picture of the city's future. She's learning after a year in office, and the stumbles will end. But there is no question that having her is better than electing yet another selfish thug-in-a-suit. That should be obvious. We're hopeful, yes...- Editor

She was just elected in June. Not quite a year. I think she's doing a good job but I think she's holding back.

I agree, good lookin, educated, she will do fine.

Patrick Alcatraz said...

Yes, we're aware of the June thing. She once scolded us for wishing her a Happy Birthday in April, when her birthday is in June, we think...Could be May. In any case, we're a bit forward-looking here, so our noting the time as the dawning of her 2nd Year in office stands...And, yes, she will grow on the job. We have full faith in her ability to see right from wrong, good from bad...- Editor.

Look guys, lets don't be naive, I have been around city, county and state goverment, for a long time and elected officials begin real good, and then something happens. And they go the wayward way.
I hope that is not the case, as it was with Tara. The Lawyers Trials Association took the mask away, and the people saw her for what she was.
But I will concede to Patrick and Anonymous, the selection for the county judge is limited.
AS for the city Commish, well I want to wish her well and success.
