AMERIQUE:

A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR: It is the unspoken statistic, but it is as real as anything to do with the lingering U.S. war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. According to the military, 1,800 American servicemen have killed themselves since the initial invasion of Baghdad. That is in addition to the more than 4,000 who died in battle. This week, families of the soldiers who committed suicide asked President Barack Obama to change the government policy of not forwarding letters of appreciation to mothers and fathers of these servicemen. By week's end, the White House had reversed the policy and agreed that such letters are needed, as well... - Eduardo Paz-Martinez, Editor of The Tribune

DP-M Again Named Most Interesting Man

Special to the Herald-Tribune

BROWNSVILLE, TX - A thoroughly stunned DP-M is expressing disbelief at once again being named this city's Most Interesting Man. "I am humbled and amazed," he said from Berlin, where he visited with descendants of Eva Braun and Adolf Hitler as part of a Catholic Church retreat.

The wandering performance artist edged out locals Carlos "The Jackal" Cascos, the county judge, and Gino "La Mula" Barbosa, a little-known drug dealer. The mop-topped DP-M is shown in photo accompanying this story chatting earlier this year in Dresden with Helga Braun and Brian Hitler, daughter of Eva and son of Adolf.

Some 44,000 Brownsville men submitted their candidacy for Most Interesting Man in Town, said officials overseeing the assignation. A parade for DP-M is scheduled to be held during Final Four weekend. That, said scheduling personnel, will be followed by a Ramon Ayala concert in Southmost hosted by El Rrun Rrun blogger Juan "El Jonron" Montoya.

Laura, please what's with DP-M?? Now just tell me the celebration is going to take place at the 1-2-3 lounge. God save Brownsville.

We regret to inform you that writer Laura Anais Martinez has left explicit instructions that she not be asked about DP-M. Who knows what that's about...

I was been sarcastic, I just don't understand the obsession with DP-M?? Please, if she doesn't want to get any questions about questionable characters. She shouldn't write about them.

You should know: DP-M is not a character; he's just an incredibly nice guy. We don't know this to be a fact, but we understand he and Anais had a romantic relationship at one time and then it fizzled. Something about DP-M being forever dragged away by wild horses. It's all we are at liberty to say...

Anais involved romantically, I don't think so. She looks to homey, like the girl next door. I guess looks can be deceiving. My, my, I can't believe someone would get involved with dpm. He sounds like a make believe character. I need to know does this character actully exists??? Or this pure fantasy??? Inquiring minds want to know!!

DP-M most certainly exists. Among the many noted Brownsvillians who have had the pleasure to meet him are: Dr. G.F. McHale-Scully, Juan Montoya, Ralph Cowen, Argelia Miller, Melissa Zamora, Bill Young, Danny Cavazos, Max Maxwell, and Rey "Che" Guevara. Elsewhere, he is known by more notable people, but that's neither here nor there...

You people including Anais need counseling, that DPM guy doesn't exist, it is a fantasy. The people that alledge to know him, probably met him while they were drunk at the 1-2-3 lounge, and God knows what kind of cool aid they sell there.
That photograph of DP-M looks like the lead singer of the Herman Hermits a group of the 60's.
I think Anais Martinez, was sleep when she concocted that scheme about being romantically involved. Or maybe had too many bruskies at the 1-2-3 bar and grill. For heavens sake what do you all do at the Herald??? Make up stuff???

Here we go again, trying to fool the readers of the blog, is that picture of Juan Montoya for real??? I thought it was Kinky Friedman. The last time I heard that guy lost a state race, I think it was commissioner of agriculture. His expierence, he had 10 acres of land, plus goats and sheep, and some cows.
Is Juan Montoya running for something, about the only thing I know he owns is a blog. Oh I forgot this is Brownsville politics.
